Become a Trainer

Teach the group fitness classes you love. Courses are offered during the fall and spring semesters. The 12-week course provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in preparation for the ACE national certification exam in group fitness instruction. Group fitness graduate assistants and veteran instructors will train you in mastering your instructor skills. After the course, take and pass the ACE exam to be eligible to work for Campus Recreation as a group fitness instructor. Enroll via MyRed and Seach “Rec-Fitness” as a subject.

Help people accomplish their health and fitness goals. The Intro to Personal Training course is offered during the fall, spring, and summer sessions. This course provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in preparation for the ACE national certification exam in personal training. After the course, complete the personal training development program, where you can train mock clients to build experience in personal training at UNL Campus Recreation. Upon passing the ACE exam, students would be eligible to work for Campus Recreation as a personal trainer. Enroll via MyRED and search “Rec-Fitness” as a subject.
