GET STARTED TODAY!
The first step to begin Personal Training is to purchase a PT Intro Package from our Member Services Desk at either campus. The PT Intro Package is $60 and includes an initial consultation and 2, 1-hour training sessions with your trainer. This package allows us to determine your fitness level, create short and long term goals, as well as develop an individualized program just for you. Once you purchase the PT Intro Package, you will be contacted by one of our staff members to complete online paperwork and get paired with a trainer! After completing the PT Intro Package, you can purchase 3, 5, or 10 sessions to continue your fitness training. For additional package details, please click on the “Training Packages” tab.
If you have any questions about the Personal Training program or the sign up process, please contact Brock Priebe at priebe.brock@huskers.unl.edu

Body Composition Test

Measure your percent body fat and lean muscle using the Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis or the 3-site skinfold test.
Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is free for students and members and performed by a Strength Training & Conditioning Attendant. This non-invasive test simply involves the placement of two electrodes on the person's hands. A low level, imperceptible electrical current is sent through the body. The flow of the current is affected by the amount of water in the body. The device measures how this signal is impeded through different types of tissue. Tissues that contain large amounts of fluid and electrolytes, such as blood, have high conductivity, but fat and bone slow the signal down. As BIA determines the resistance to flow of the current as it passes through the body, it provides estimates of body water from which body fat is calculated using selected equations.
The 3-site skinfold test is $5 and is performed by a Certified Personal Trainer on staff. This test involves pinching 3 different areas of your body and obtaining the measurements of those skinfolds. The measurements are then placed into a formula to determine an estimate of your body fat. To sign up for this test, please purchase it from the Member Services desk at either location and one of our fitness team members will contact you via email to set up the test.
BIA vs. 3-site skinfold test: Research shows that the estimates of body fat are similar between Skinfolds and BIA with significant correlation (r = 0.96) between methods while BIA method is less time-consuming. In conclusion, the most simple, quick, and inexpensive method of BIA seems to be very useful for assessing body fat in physically active individuals and athletes.
