January-February 2019 Affiliate Membership promotion

Who qualifies for this promotion?

Anyone who has not had an Affiliate membership in the past 3 months. Affiliates are defined as current members of the UNL Community including University faculty/staff, and employees of the NU Foundation, Alumni Association, Innovation Campus, Central Admin, etc.

How long is the promotion period?

January 2 to February 28, 2019.  You can sign up in person at any facility during this time period. Bring your NCard with you. You will charged a membership fee of $1.50 for January and February 2019. This fee must be paid at the time of signup. Full membership fees will be assessed starting March 1, 2019.

Are there any restrictions to my membership during the promotion period?

No. You have all the same privileges afforded to other UNL employees who are already an active Campus Rec member. At the time of membership sign-up, you are required to complete our membership enrollment process, including providing your monthly billing payment information.

What facilities am I able to access with an Affiliate Pass?

All three of our state of the art facilities are part of your Campus Recreation membership. As an affiliate member you have access to the Campus Recreation Center on City Campus, the Outdoor Adventures Center on City Campus, as well as the Rec & Wellness Center located on East Campus.

What amenities are included?

Access to all three Campus Recreation facilities is included. Specific facility amenities include:

  • Strength training equipment:  free weights, Olympic weights, weight training machines
  • Cardio machines: treadmills, ellipticals, cycles, powermills, etc.
  • Swimming Pool (located at Campus Rec Center only)
  • Sport courts: basketball, volleyball, racquetball, handball, squash, badminton, MAC gym
  • Sports gear for check-out, e.g. basketballs, weight training belts, jump ropes. *
  • Cook Pavilion indoor turf field
  • Indoor walking & jogging track
  • Rock climbing gym
  • Injury prevention & care services
  • Day-use lockers
  • Showers
  • Towels for workouts and showers
  • Sauna
  • Class or activities listed as “free” or “no charge”.

* select sports gear has a per-use checkout fee, e.g. racquetball racquets, climbing shoes.

Additional Questions

What services and activities have additional fees?

Group fitness classes (except the first and last week of each semester); personal training services; massage therapy services; gear rentals; nutrition consultations; long-term personal locker rentals; rock climbing skills check or class; swim lessons; activity classes and lessons.

Can my spouse, partner, and family use Campus Rec facilities with me during the promotion period?

Absolutely yes!  The UNL employee is considered the Primary Affiliate member; family members are added as Secondary Affiliate members to the membership household.

I’m a UNL Employee and already a current Affiliate Member, but my spouse/partner is not a member.  Can I add them to my membership household during this promotion?

Absolutely yes! Your significant other is added as a Secondary Affiliate member to your membership household. You pay the $1.50 each for January and February when you sign up your partner. Full membership will be assessed starting March 1, 2019 and billed using the monthly payment information on file.

I signed up for the membership during the promotion and later decided it’s not the right fit for me at this time. Can I cancel without a penalty?

Yes. You can cancel at any time, without penalty. To avoid being charged for the month of March, just cancel by February 28th, 2019. Keep your membership for as long as you want, just cancel by the last day of the previous month to avoid the next month’s fees.

I’m a UNL Employee and my spouse/partner and I signed up for the promotion membership. I’m not interested in continuing as a member myself, yet my spouse wants to stay as member. Is that possible?

Yes. A non-UNL employee can continue as a member of Campus Recreation. They just need to change their membership type from Affiliate to Alumni (note – you do not need to be an alumni of UNL to be eligible). Please inquire at the Member Services desk for details.

Is your spouse/partner a UNL Employee too?

If yes, then they can continue as a member by becoming the Primary member within the household.

If your spouse/partner is not a UNL Employee and you are not a Campus Rec member, we can transfer your spouse/partner to a different membership type (Additional qualifications and restrictions may apply). Please inquire at the Member Services desk.

What are the monthly membership rates (after the promotion period)?

The cost is just $41 per month for the initial (primary) person on the membership, and $33 for additional (secondary) members added to your membership (spouse/partner, dependent children ages 16-25). Dependent children ages 0-15 years of age are FREE.
