Parent + Kid Cooking classes
When kids participate in cooking, they are more likely to explore a variety of food and learn basic math skills along the way. Campus Recreation’s Kid + Parent Cooking Classes provide an easy way to teach the whole family about cooking while making fun memories, and each class includes dinner for the evening.
Not only do children help with making the meal, they’ll learn the basics about nutrition and food groups, while having fun with a new activity for the family. The Wellness Kitchen instructors take care of all the prep and clean-up. Classes are open to the public.
Class size is limited and instructors can accommodate all special dietary needs. After registering, participants will be contacted about any special dietary needs. This class is recommended for children aged three years and older.

Classic Tomato Sauce w/ Whole Grain Pasta + Green Salad w/ Herb Vinaigrette
Pasta is a staple in many homes, which makes homemade tomato sauce an essential recipe for families to learn. This recipe is basic, but once you master it your family can add more vegetables, cheese, or some ground meat to the sauce. This all-purpose tomato sauce is also excellent on polenta, rice, or barley, or as a pizza sauce. It can even go on burgers instead of ketchup! We’ll pair this meal with a green salad w/ herb vinaigrette for a well-rounded, filling meal!
