UNL Campus Recreation cooking classes and demonstrations teach participants the skills needed to prepare healthy meals that are simple, budget friendly, and delicious. The deadline for each class is 48 hours prior to class start.

Cooking Around the World

The Wellness Kitchen is the perfect environment to learn to cook or expand your skills. Classes include a cooking coach that will lead participants through each step of the cooking experience and conclude with enjoying a delicious meal together.

Dine with Your Valentine

Secure your reservation for Valentine’s Day…at the Wellness Kitchen! You and your Valentine will get to make Creamy Garlic Pasta with (shrimp or chicken) and Vegetables for Two. But we cannot forget dessert! So, for dessert we will be creating a heart-shaped Peanut Butter Scotcheroos.

Meal Kit Mondays

Let us make your meal-times easier! Forget those expensive meal delivery services and pre-order meal kits from our Wellness Kitchen. Then, pick up your ready-to-go, four-serving meals on the first Monday of the month at the Wellness Kitchen inside the Rec & Wellness Center anytime 4:30-5:30 p.m. We're here to fuel your week or help you stock your freezer!

Each meal kit includes everything you need for a delicious dinner in well under an hour – all you provide is the tools, cooking spray and some minor chopping/mixing/etc. We offer three different meal options for pick-up on the first Monday of each month. You'll need to order 48 hours prior to pick-up. You can choose one, two or three or double up on the same meal!

Just $15 per meal!

Registration is available until 5 p.m. the Friday prior to pick-up time.

(After placing your order, please email Amanda at arobine3@unl.edu with your choice of meals from the list of options below and note any food allergies you may have - we can accommodate! You may also order multiples of the same meal if you prefer.)

Lunch Time Meal Prep

Forget about last minute lunch packing and visit the Wellness Kitchen to prep your lunch for tomorrow! We will be making Turkey Taco Lunch Bowls, so grab a co-worker or friend and make a yummy and filling meal so you aren’t scrambling in the morning!

Make + Take Lunch

Drop in over lunch to make a healthy, homemade meal. We'll lead you through cooking veggies on the stove top, cooking meat safely and how to plan for a quick lunch. After our brief cooking session, sit down to enjoy your lunch in the Wellness Kitchen or grab it and go! This lunch will fill you up so you won't be craving that unhealthy snack later in the day.

Join us to make Vegetarian Seven-Layer Tostadas for lunch! You can stay and enjoy it in the Wellness Kitchen or take it to go!

These events are great for large groups and feature a cooking instructor front-and-center. With the help of cameras and large screens, instructors lead the group in preparing meals for them to duplicate in their own kitchens. Each guest enjoys a taste of what the instructor cooks.
