How old do I have to be to be considered an adult in Nebraska?
To sign the release form an individual must be 19 years of age or older.

Will I need to fill out a waiver if I am going to use my free walk up?
Yes, If you are at least 19 years old, you will complete the form before you climb. If you are under the age of 19, you will need to have a "Guardian Youth Release" form signed before you come to the wall for the free walk up!

How old do I have to be to climb, or to belay?
Children age 5 and under are not allowed to climb on the wall. We have full body harnesses for children too small for the regular waist harness. A person must be 16 years of age, to be able to belay at the climbing wall..

Do I need to have climbing experience before I come to take the climbing class Level 1 or use my 1 free climb per semester?
No! Staff is well equipped with the knowledge and tools to help a participant through the process of using a harness and tying all the appropriate knots!

Do you have a skills test out, to be able to skip the climbing level 1 class if I am an experienced climber?
No! Everyone must take the Level I class to climb at the wall beyond the free walk up. We believe it is important for your safety and others that everyone climbing have received the same information about how to use the climbing wall.

If I am not a member or a student of UNL, may I use the climbing wall?
Yes! You can purchase a Guest Climbing pass for $10 at Member Services. This provides access to the wall during regular hours. UNL Campus Rec members and non-members (public climbers) must take our Level 1 Certification to climb after their free walk up. Non-members are required to have a current Rec Center member sponsor them into the building to purchase the Guest Climbing pass.. The Campus Rec Center offers alumni memberships available for anyone to purchase.

Does the wall have belayers or anyone to climb with?
Yes! When the wall is open, we have staff available to assist you with your climbing or belaying needs.

Where do I go and how do I use my free walk up?
Go up to the climbing wall, and let the staff know your interested in using the current semester's free walk up.

Can I bring a group to the wall to climb?
Yes, we do offer group reservations. Typical rentals happen on weekend mornings when the wall is closed.

Can I bring my own climbing gear?
You may use your own gear at the discretion of the wall staff.

How much does it cost?
The first walk up is free. After using the free walk up, the Climbing Level 1 class is $20. After taking the class, you will have unlimited climbing during open hours for one year.
