Climbing Wall

General Information

Indoor rock climbing is an exciting and fun alternative to traditional exercise, the indoor climbing wall is a simulated rock formation affixed with numerous hand and foot holds that provides mental & physical challenges to build strength, endurance, and self-confidence.

A popular activity of students, the 2600+ sq .ft. climbing wall is a unique experience that offers numerous climbing routes, an artificial crevice, and a 45 degree overhang.

The indoor climbing wall is located in the Campus Recreation Center and essential equipment, including seat harness, belay device, and climbing rope, are provided. Additional gear such as climbing shoes and chalk bags can be rented at Husker Red's.

Monday - Thursday (2 p.m. - 10 p.m.)
Friday - Sunday (2 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
Summer (May - August)
Monday - Sunday (4 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
Adjusted hours during holiday breaks and special events.

Students and members are allowed one (1) free climb per semester to become acquainted with the wall. Further climbing requires participation in an orientation & safety class. All essential equipment, including seat harness, belay device, and climbing rope is provided. An Outdoor Adventure staff member is always ready and available to assist anyone interested in trying the climbing wall. When using the one free climb, everything is handled by the climbing wall staff. Just bring yourself and close toed shoes. Guests or non-members of the Rec Center must still buy the one time climbing pass.

Additional gear such as climbing shoes and chalk bags can be rented at Member Services in the Campus Recreation Center.

ATTENTION: everyone interested in trying the climbing wall or taking the classes must fill out a release form. Participants must be 19 to be considered a legal adult and sign the waiver. Please be prepared with a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian if your are under 19.

One (1) Time Non-Member Climbing Wall Pass $10.00

Guest climbing wall passes allow certified climbers into the building to use the indoor climbing wall during climbing wall hours. This pass does not allow you to bring guests into the facility or use any other areas of the facility. You must be currently certified in the Climbing Class (Level I or II) to purchase the guest climbing passes.
