Cooking Classes & Demonstrations

UNL Campus Recreation cooking classes and demonstrations teach participants the skills needed to prepare healthy meals that are simple, budget friendly, and delicious. The deadline for each class is 48 hours prior to class start. To sign up for cooking classes:

  1. Select “Register Now” below.
  2. Click on the “Cooking Classes” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Find the date/class you are interested in attending.
  4. Sign up via the scheduling site. The registration fee will be added to you Campus Recreation account.
  5. Pay prior to the beginning of class, at the Members Services desk at any Campus Recreation location.
  6. Attend the class and have a great time!

HyVee Simple Fix Classes

Make. Take. Enjoy.

With Simple Fix you will create FIVE complete meals that are ready to put in the freezer, in the oven, or on the table in no time flat. Five complete meals with four generous servings each, just $90. That's only $4.50 per serving! Each session features five new courses your family will love. Online registration ends 48 hours prior to class start.

Cooking Around the World

The Wellness Kitchen is the perfect environment to learn to cook or expand your skills. In this series, you'll learn various techniques and dishes from cultures around the world. Each class includes a cooking coach that will lead you through each step of the cooking experience and conclude with enjoying a delicious meal together.

Cooking on a Budget

  • Prepare an appetizing, yet budget-friendly meal in this partnership class with the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union. A cooking coach will lead participants through cooking (and then enjoying!) Skillet Chili with Corn Biscuits. Participants will also learn valuable tips on how to meet their MyPlate dietary goals on a budget by buying fresh fruits and veggies in season; choosing budget-friendly recipes; planning out their weekly grocery shopping list; and calculating unit prices to get the best deal.
